In this lesson, your students will learn how to effectively communicate in English
and learn:
How to talk about time differences between countries.
How to move an event in a schedule.
How to collaborate on a problem solving group project
The teacher notes will walk you through the instructions, but it's pretty straightforward. Each student gets a copy of both worksheets. Walk them through the lessons laid out on sheet 1. Then they need to collaborate in small groups (of 3 ideally) to organise the optimal schedule of an online conference which is held on UK time, but features speakers from different countries and therefore different timezones!

Students will know by this point how to talk about time differences and how to move the time of an event, so they must communicate with each other to make sure they all end up with all the speakers taking up the same sessions on the schedule.
You can add extra rules according to level, like earliest / latest local time for speaker to have their session. Or adding a condition like "The group with the most optimal time for the speakers wins".
There are optional follow up activities if your class finishes too early!
